I've studied parenting very carefully I've found that children should have to work for everything they get. Not only did I have them water this tree every week I had them trim it every summer. Today I had them cut it down with a nail file and drag it over 400 yards to the truck.
They will appreciate Christmas whether they want to or not. They will thank me later.
